INTEL CORE I7-6850K BROADWELL-E LGA 2011-V3 DESKTOP PROCESSOR
The Intel Core i7-6850K processor enables simultaneous, compute intensive, multi-threaded workloads, powered by 6 cores and 12 threads. Emerse yourself in the delivery of platform scalability to meet exacting demands with up to 40 PCIe 3.0 lanes and support for high speed storage, up to 4 discrete graphics cards, and Thunderbolt technology.
This Core i7 processor support quad channel DDR4 memory, boast up to 15MB of Intel Smart Cache, and is fully unlocked for unleashed performance. Finally, the Intel Core i7-69xx/68xx processor family is the first to feature the NEW Intel Turbo Boost Max Technology 3.0, dynamically boosting the processor frequency to deliver maximum application performance.
Broadwell-E is a strange beast, much like Broadwell for desktops. The desktop Broadwell very nearly didn’t happen, and the number of people who actually own such a system (outside of reviewers) has to be trivially small.
The short story is that Broadwell didn’t prove to be much faster than Haswell / Devil’s Canyon, so Intel opted to equip the desktop models with their higher performance Iris Pro Graphics—which also increases the cost—and at the same time drop clock speeds. When I reviewed the i7-5775C, I wasn’t particularly impressed.
The chips were fast enough, and they could still overclock, but for enthusiasts there wasn’t a good reason to opt for Broadwell over Devil’s Canyon, particularly given the price premium.
