HP 951XL Yellow Officejet Ink Cartridge

The ink is good. It looks good on the paper, and does not dry out, and does not clog the printhead, when the printer sits unused for a week. Some lower quality inks will do that.

I will not give more than 3 stars to any printer ink cartridge that has built in marketing controls (and most do). I do not like the built in expiration date (cartridge won’t work in printer after date expiration, and therefor can not refill), and the cost is high (though on Amazon, cheaper than retail). The expiration date will probably be over a year in the future, giving you plenty of time to use the ink. I understand most printer companies sell their printers cheap, and make their money by selling proprietary ink cartridges, and I can see that this is also advantageous to the user, if the printer is replaced every two years or so.

As a general rant against all printer companies that do this, I don’t like being forced into buying ink in this manner, like being forced to buy a particular brand of gasoline for an automobile. But, if you have an HP printer, this ink works very well in it.
